Amazon Tech receives patent for “Unmanned aerial vehicle based surveillance as a service”

Amazon received a US patent (10322801) for a patent application filed in June 2015. The invention covers delivery of a package using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which may include performing a surveillance action at a property of an authorized party. The surveillance action may include imaging the property, and may be performed before or after the package is delivered. Surveillance data such as image data gathered in a surveillance action may be modified to remove or obscure adjacent properties not associated with the property of the authorized party.

The display layer and the cover layer are configured to be moved between a folded configuration and an unfolded configuration by bending the cover layer along the foldable region.

With effect from 1 July 2019, the European Patent Office (EPO) has extended its PPH pilot program with IP Australia, thus enabling applicants at both offices to continue obtaining patents more quickly and efficiently. The PPH pilot programme is extended for three years until 30 June 2022, and the current conditions and requirements for participation will continue to apply.

IBM which filed a patent application (US15/209,946 ) in 2016 titled variable display size for an elec-tronic display device has been recently granted by USPTO. As per the invention, a set of auxiliary display panels may be packaged in layers behind a primary dis-play panel. In a first display configuration, the set of auxiliary display panels may remain in the storage compartment, and visual elements may be presented on the smart-watch configuration. In a second dis-play configuration, one or more auxiliary display panels of the set of auxiliary display panels may be extended from the storage compartment to positions adjacent to the primary display panel to expand the effective screen size of the electronic display device (e.g., smart-phone configuration). In a third display configuration, one or more additional auxiliary display panels of the set of auxiliary display panels may be extended and positioned to provide a further expanded viewing area for the electronic display device (e.g., tablet configuration).

Innoviti Payment Solutions, has recently filed an infringement suit against Pine Labs Pvt Ltd for sale of payment products that infringe on Innoviti’s patent on the payments processing technology that enables UPI payments at retail POS terminals. Bengaluru High Courtgranted an ex-parte ad interim injunction to innoviti which will prevent Pine Labs from manufacturing, selling, distributing, advertising, exporting, offering for sale, procuring and dealing with this technology through its ‘Plutus Smart’ or any other device in India.

LBT filed five patents lawsuits in US District Court, Delaware against Apple. LBT claimed that Apple's mobile products that include a 'low-power mode' feature that reduces or stops certain background activities like GPS functionality in order to conserve battery life, infringes on LBT's long-standing technology. LBT markets a range of GPS devices under the PocketFinder banner and in its suit against Apple seeks unspecified damages and legal fees.
